GeekBusiness - Choosing an Affiliate Network

Before selecting selecting affiliate plan(s) or network(s) to submit join, you should research several items.
  1. How do you plan on directing traffic to your affiliate partners? - if you are gearing your plans to email marketing, you should make sure that the plan you join allows affiliate email links to their site (especially with all the new laws regarding un-solicited commercial email (SPAM)
  2. What types of products will be relevant to your user base? - If you have a site about male sports, you will likely not want to join an affiliate plan geared toward womens cloths. Don't automatically rule out a product relationship, just spend some time thinking about how realistic the relationship is.
  3. Does the selected affiliate network have a solid business reputation - as with nearly any segment of business, there are some bad apples among affiliate networks. Do the research to see if their existing publishers are paid accurately and on time (view our list of excellent geek resources).
